Aadhaar Card: In India, the Aadhaar card is an important document for people of all ages, whether they are children, the elderly, or young. At present, the Aadhaar card is used for almost all private and government work. In a way, many works cannot be done without an Aadhaar card. Meanwhile, a big information related to Aadhar has come to the fore regarding children. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the organization that oversees Aadhaar, has warned that if a child’s Aadhaar card is made at the age of 5 years and a biometric update is not done for 7 years, then Aadhaar may be closed.
Let us tell you that the Aadhar of small children is made only on the basis of name, date of birth, address, and photo, because at that age their biometric identity fingerprint and iris are not fully developed. For this reason, UIDAI has made Aadhaar update mandatory at the ages of 5 and 15 years. If this is not done on time, then there may be difficulty in school admission, exam, scholarship, or any kind of government scheme benefits, etc.

So many crore children are yet to be updated
If UIDAI is to be believed, then the Aadhaar of about 17 crore children in the country is yet to be updated. UIDAI has taken many important steps to expedite this work. Like Aadhaar camps are being organized in the school, the list of children is being prepared on the UDISE+ platform, and constant reminders are being sent to the parents through SMS.
When and how will you get a free update?
Biometric update of children is absolutely free between the ages of 5 to 7 years. If parents get the Aadhaar of the child updated in this period, then they will not have to pay any fee. But if you get the update done after completing 7 years of age, then you will have to pay a fee of Rs 100. If the update facility is not available in the school, then parents can get this work done by visiting the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra or Registration Enrollment Center.
