Maruti Wagon R CNG: Maruti currently has around 11,000 bookings pending for the CNG version of its most popular hatchback, the Wagon R. For the most popular CNG model, this number is the lowest, followed by Dzire with 17,000 units. This means the Wagon R is the car with the least backlog in the CNG range, and it should come as no surprise as the Wagon R is the fastest selling car for Maruti Suzuki with sales of over 16,000 units every month.

How many pending bookings are there?

Overall, Maruti currently has a production backlog of around 2.2 lakh units, of which 1.1 lakh units are of CNG powered cars. Out of this, the company has the maximum booking pending of 60,000 units of Ertiga. The company recently expanded the production capacity at its Manesar plant by one lakh units to meet the huge demand for MPVs.

Wagon R CNG Powertrain

The CNG-capable Wagon R is powered by Maruti’s 1.0-litre K-series petrol engine, producing 56bhp/82Nm and mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Its petrol tank capacity is 28 litres, while the CNG tank capacity is 60 liters and its claimed mileage is 34.05km/kg.

Who will compete there?

The Maruti Suzuki Wagon RC CNG will compete with the Tata Tiago CNG, whose ex-showroom prices start at Rs 8.25 lakh. The mileage of this car is 26.49 km/kg. This variant is available in 6 color options which include; These include Daytona Grey, Flame Red, Opal White, Tornado Blue, Tornado Blue Dual Tone and Opal White Dual Tone.

Tata Tiago CNG has a 1199 cc engine, which is available with manual transmission. This engine generates power of 72.41bhp at 6000rpm and torque of 95Nm at 3500rpm.
