Upcoming Renault-Nissan Cars: In February 2024, Renault and Nissan plan to launch six new local models in India with a fresh investment of Rs 5,300 crore. The joint venture board also revealed that the upcoming models will be products from each brand, with some overlap within the segment. However, these vehicles will be different in terms of design.

This joint venture will bring 6 new vehicles

In this project, the new generation Renault Duster will be built on the CMF-B and its electric version platform with 5 and 7-seat configurations and A-segment EV respectively. This suggests that the venture plans to bring four new ICE SUVs and two EVs.

What is the company’s plan?

However, according to a recent media report, the A-segment electric car project is likely to be scrapped. Both manufacturers are now looking to enter the electric C-segment, with models like the Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti Suzuki EVX to be launched soon. Hyundai will launch the Creta EV in early 2025, while Maruti Suzuki will introduce a production-ready model of the EVX concept. The new Renault and Nissan electric SUV will be more than 4 meters long and will be based on the CMF-B EV platform. To speed up the project, the venture is in talks with local battery and cell manufacturers to achieve competitive pricing in the EV market. Companies can keep the price of these electric cars between Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. For which they will use Renault-Nissan Technology Business Center India R&D Centre.

When will these EVs arrive?

The report also says that LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries can be used in upcoming Renault and Nissan electric SUVs and they can run around 300 km on a single charge. This new C-segment EV will be a global product and is expected to arrive in 2026 or 2027.
