Tata Motors produces 9,00,000th unit from Lucknow facility, celebrates

Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles: Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, has announced the milestone of production of 9,00,000th unit from its state-of-the-art Lucknow facility. In this ceremony, the flag hoisting ceremony was organized at the facility in the presence of Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Government, Durga Shankar Mishra and senior representatives of Tata Motors. The 600-acre Lucknow facility is a testament to Tata Motors’ commitment towards sustainable manufacturing practices, having been recognized as a water-positive facility by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The facility has a 6MW solar power plant, which significantly reduces its carbon footprint. The facility includes state-of-the-art vehicle manufacturing stations such as robotic paint booths and body-in-white shops with robotic spot welding facilities.

Rollout of 9,00,000th vehicle

Since its inception in 1992, the facility has launched light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles as well as cargo and passenger commercial vehicles, including electric and fuel cell electric buses. Speaking on the rollout of the 9,00,000th vehicle from Tata Motors’ Lucknow facility, Durga Shankar Mishra, Chief Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh, said, “I commend Tata Motors for reaching this important milestone. This achievement reflects the important role of Tata Motors in developing advanced, safe and green mobility solutions to meet current and future needs. “Additionally, the company’s commitment to women empowerment, exemplified by the representation of more than 22% of women in new hires this year, is an important step forward for women in manufacturing.”

Women’s participation is increasing

Tata Motors is setting a benchmark in gender inclusivity and women empowerment at its Lucknow facility. Currently, women constitute one-third of the technical workforce, actively participating in all operational shifts and demonstrating a tremendous range of skills in the production of various products, including trucks and buses. The company is investing deeply in the development of its female employees, providing them with practical industry experience through specialist training and workshops designed to enhance their skills. With women representing over 22% of new hires this year, Tata Motors is a proud supporter of the advancement of women in the manufacturing industry.
