According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperature in these cities has reached more than 41 degrees Celsius. The government has said that due to the scorching heat, summer vacations in government and government-aided schools have been postponed ahead of schedule.

According to official information, summer vacations will start in West Bengal on April 22. Earlier, the summer holidays were to start on May 6. Along with this, many private schools have extended the summer holidays by about a week.

Schools closed in Odisha 

In view of the severe heat wave in Odisha, school holidays have been declared until April 20th. The temperature in Kolkata has crossed 40 degrees, and the humidity can cross 85 percent.

According to IMD, in view of the scorching heat, an orange alert has been issued in East Midnapore, West Midnapore, Purulia, Jhargram, Bankura, West Burdwan, East Burdwan, and Birbhum from Saturday to Monday.

IMD has predicted that heat wave conditions will persist in Odisha and West Bengal until April 21. IMD has issued a severe heat warning in Odisha until April 19 and in West Bengal until April 21.

According to the IMD forecast, the temperature may cross 45 degrees Celsius at some places in Odisha by April 20. Light to moderate rainfall or snowfall along with lightning is expected over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh till April 21.

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding rain with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds in Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi until April 20. Heavy rain has also been predicted in the Jammu and Kashmir region on April 19.
