The current generation Fortuner is built on the IMV platform but the new generation Fortuner is being built on the TNGA-F architecture. Tacoma pickup truck, Lexus LX500d and Land Cruiser 300 SUV are built on this platform. The TNGA-F platform supports a variety of body styles and engine types. With this, both petrol/diesel and hybrid engines are supported.

Toyota Fortuner latest model

Recently Toyota has introduced a new version of the existing Fortuner, which has mild hybrid technology. This variant has a 2.8 liter diesel engine. It has an electric motor generator with 48 volt setup, which generates power of 201bhp and torque of 500Nm. The power and 42Nm torque output has increased by 16bhp due to the mild hybrid system. The regenerative braking system provided with it increases the overall performance of the car.

Engine and specifications of the new Toyota Fortuner

The new Toyota Fortuner will come with both rear wheel drive (RWD) and 4×4 drivetrains. Its mild hybrid powertrain can come with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The 2.8 liter diesel engine of the car can give a mileage of up to 12.65 kilometers per liter with 4×4 setup. Whereas the mild hybrid engine can give a mileage of 13.15 km per liter.

Features like Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), Toyota Safety Suite, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Pre-Collision System, Road Sign Assist, Protective Driving Control and Automatic High Beam will be upgraded in the new Fortuner. Apart from this, the car will be provided with electric power-assisted unit and stability control system instead of hydraulic steering system for distance control and mileage.
