Thailand Accident: Devastating and shocking news has come from Mukdahan province in Thailand. Recent reports indicate that an 11-year-old boy drove his parents’ pickup truck out of their home without their knowledge and crashed at full speed into a sacred procession of Buddhist monks. This tragic incident resulted in the deaths of nine monks, with several others sustaining serious injuries.

Videos of the incident, which are circulating on social media, are deeply unsettling. The sacred saffron robes of the monks, their belongings, and the wreckage of vehicles are scattered across the roadway. Police reports confirm that five monks died instantly, while four others succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.

One monk was reciting mantras when he suddenly leaped into the air. This unfortunate accident took place during a sacred pilgrimage involving 35 Buddhist monks and five lay followers. Phra Sompong, a monk who narrowly avoided the disaster, recounted, “Just before the crash, I was immersed in meditation and chanting ‘Buddho, Buddha!’ when I noticed a young boy speeding towards us in a pickup truck. Before anyone could react, the truck collided with the procession at full speed. Fortunately, I and another monk managed to leap aside just in time. The nine monks at the front of the procession were unharmed, but those in the middle were struck by the truck and thrown into the air.”
The child was unwell, found the house empty, and took off with the keys.

Major General Paroj Thaiphutsa, a senior police officer in the area, revealed that the initial investigation has uncovered alarming details. The child had not attended school that day due to illness and was left home alone while his parents were out. Discovering the house empty, he took the car keys without permission and drove off. When his parents returned and realized the car was missing, they quickly contacted the police, but it was too late, as the child had already caused chaos on the highway.

Police officials stated that the suspect is a child, so he is currently under the care of a guardian and a special team of doctors. According to initial medical input, he is a child with special needs. The forensic team is also examining the car to determine the exact technical cause of the accident.

Acute shortage of blood in hospital
Given the severity of the accident, the Mukdahan Hospital administration has made an emotional appeal to the public for immediate blood donations to save the lives of the injured monks. According to doctors, three monks remain in critical condition, and at least five others are seriously injured.

It should be noted that in Thai culture, Buddhist monks are highly revered and held in the highest esteem as guardians of Buddha’s teachings. This incident has shocked the entire nation. Mukdahan Provincial Governor Vorayan Bunnarat took a strong stance, saying that this incident is a significant and stark warning to all of Thailand regarding road safety. “We are strict on the roads, but unless parents and the general public are vigilant, such accidents cannot be prevented. Parents will now have to be more responsible for the safety of their children and their access to vehicles.”
