The Ashes between Australia and England begins on November 21st. However, before that, all the Australian players selected for that series are playing in the domestic Sheffield Shield tournament. Mitchell Starc is one of them, whose havoc was seen in the Victoria vs. New South Wales match that began on November 10th. In this match, Mitchell Starc, playing for New South Wales, was seen spewing fire against the Victorian batsmen. Some suffered injuries to their toes, some to their hands.

Was that the best from Mitchell Starc?

Victoria won the toss against New South Wales and decided to bat first. However, Mitchell Starc prevented their decision from proving too sane. Victoria’s openers had only added 29 runs when Starc struck the first blow. The left-arm fast bowler’s blow was so powerful that Victorian batsman Harry Dixon was left stunned. Starc dismissed Harry Dixon with his famously accurate yorker. The yorker landed squarely on Dixon’s toe, giving him out LBW and also holding his leg. Videos of Starc’s fiery bowling in the Sheffield Shield have also started circulating on social media.

While Starc targeted Harry Dixon’s toe with a yorker, he also injured Victoria’s other opener, Campbell Kellaway, with his short deliveries. And, after inflicting the injury, he finally got his wicket. Starc had Campbell caught by Phillips.

Victoria’s middle-order batsman Oliver Pick, who came in after opener Campbell Kellaway’s dismissal, was dismissed by Starc before he could even open his account. He was also caught out.

Starc wreaks havoc on Victoria’s top order
Mitchell Starc’s impact on Victoria’s top order was such that he took three of their first four wickets. Overall, Starc appears to be in excellent form ahead of the Ashes. Judging by his fiery bowling in the Sheffield Shield, it’s easy to imagine how challenging the Ashes will be for England.
