The Test series between India and South Africa begins on November 14th. Team India’s squad has been announced, and Rishabh Pant has returned to the team. Consequently, there are significant questions surrounding Dhruv Jurel’s place. Jurel has scored four centuries in his last eight innings. It would be extremely difficult to drop him. The South African team may also be assuming that the in-form Jurel will be dropped once Pant arrives. However, Gill and Gambhir’s masterplan has been revealed. A BCCI source revealed that Dhruv Jurel will play in the Test series.
Dhruv Jurel is confirmed to play!
Speaking to PTI about Team India’s selection, a BCCI source said that Dhruv Jurel could play against South Africa. He said, “Dhruv Jurel will likely play as a batsman. There are two slots where he could fit in. One is No. 3, where Sai Sudarshan is currently and he scored a half-century in the last Test. Team India wants a settled No. 3. The other slot is for Nitish Reddy. He cannot be given a chance before Dhruv Jurel. His bowling will not be needed in Indian conditions.”
These can be India’s main weapon against South Africa
Team India’s weakness has been the number 6 spot of late. Nitish Kumar Reddy has primarily batted at this position, but he hasn’t performed well with the bat. On the other hand, when Dhruv was included in Team India, he scored a brilliant century in the Ahmedabad Test against the West Indies. Now, he has performed exceptionally well in the domestic season and is currently in top form. In this situation, he can certainly help Team India to victory with his powerful batting in the middle order.
