T20 cricket is mostly about speed. In this format, batters try to make runs as fast as possible. But for Babar Azam the case is slightly different.

Pakistan is playing a T20 tri-series at home against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. This tri-series provides a great opportunity for all three teams to test their preparations ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup, scheduled for early next year.

The third match of the T20 tri-series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka was played on November 22nd. Pakistan secured a comfortable 7-wicket victory, but Babar Azam, who has returned to the T20 team, was quite impressive in his performance.

Chasing a target of 129 runs in the tri-series match against Sri Lanka, Pakistan lost their first wicket at 47. Babar Azam was expected to play a quick innings, as Sahibzada Farhan, batting at the other end, was consistently hitting big shots. However, Babar’s batting style was completely opposite, facing 22 balls and scoring just 16 runs, with a strike rate of just 72.73. He didn’t hit a single four and managed just one six. Babar Azam was bowled by Sri Lankan bowler Dushmantha Chameera while attempting a big shot away from the wicket.

After losing the captaincy in the T20 format, Babar Azam was also dropped from the Pakistani team. After Pakistan’s defeat against India in the final match of the Asia Cup 2025, Babar Azam returned to the Pakistani team for the T20 series against South Africa at home, but since then, his batting has not shown any performance that could help his team win.

Babar has played five matches since his return, in which he has managed to score only 95 runs at an average of 23.75 and his strike rate has also been seen to be only 103.26.
