It has to be. A few days ago, the player himself informed that rather then limited overs cricket, he would like to contribute more in Test cricket. According to that, cricket governing body made a big decision.

A three-match Test series will be played between the West Indies and New Zealand in December. The New Zealand Cricket Board recently announced its squad for the first match of this Test series. Kane Williamson has returned to the New Zealand Test team after a long absence.

Who are in the team?

Jacob Duffy and Jack Foulkes are also part of the 14-man squad. They took nine wickets in their debut match against Zimbabwe. Kyle Jamieson has also not been included in the team for the first Test. He has not yet fully recovered from a back injury, so caution is being exercised in increasing his workload. Glenn Phillips, who played in the opening round of the Plunket Shield, has also not been included in the squad. He is trying to regain full match fitness after a back injury. Daryl Mitchell, who was ruled out of the second and third ODIs due to injury, has managed to return to the team.

Head coach Rob Walter said, “Ability on the field speaks for itself, and it will be great to have his skills and leadership back in the Test group. He’s had some time to prepare himself for red-ball cricket, and I know he’s looking forward to playing for Northern Districts in the second round of the Plunket Shield before the first Test.”
