Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer suffered a serious injury while fielding in the third and final ODI between India and Australia. He was then admitted to a hospital in Sydney, where he is undergoing treatment. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer shared a health update with his fans on his social media account, giving them a sigh of relief.

Iyer himself provide update

On social media, Shreyas Iyer shared an Instagram story on his official page. In the post, he wrote, “I am currently recovering and getting better with each passing day. I am so grateful for all the well wishes and support I have received. It truly means a lot to me. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts.” Iyer’s post is going viral on social media.

Why he has to admit in hospital?

Let us tell you that in the third and final ODI match between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Shreyas Iyer dived while taking a catch from wicketkeeper Alex Carey, due to which he injured his ribs. He was admitted to Sydney’s Vincent Hospital, where it was found that his spleen had ruptured and internal bleeding had started. Doctors stopped the internal bleeding through a non-surgical procedure and conducted several tests. Now it may take four to five weeks for him to recover. Let us tell you that Shreyas Iyer will not be a part of the ODI, T20, and Test series between India and South Africa to be held on Indian soil. This series will start in the last week of next month, November.

It is believed that Iyer will not be able to return to the field before January 2026. This clearly means that he will be completely out of the series to be played against South Africa. The African team is coming to India next month.
