When Sachin Tendulkar was 26, he had been in international cricket for almost 10 years. By this age, he had become one of the world’s most formidable batsmen, making bowlers like Shane Warne cry even in their dreams. However, his son Arjun hasn’t achieved this feat yet. But like his father, he remains steadfast on the cricket field and is constantly seeking opportunities.
Possible changes in Mumbai Indians sqaud
Arjun has been a part of the IPL since 2020 and, like his father, has remained with the Mumbai Indians (MI) until now. However, in the 19th season of the league, Arjun may break his father’s record and play for a new franchise. Reports suggest that the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are interested in trading him.
Mumbai wanted to trade Shardul Thakur from Lucknow. Last season, Lucknow signed Shardul as a replacement player, with a base price of ₹2 crore. Shardul played 10 matches for the team, taking 13 wickets and scoring 18 runs with the bat. Meanwhile, Arjun Tendulkar hasn’t received any significant opportunities in Mumbai yet. He has played only five matches in the last five seasons with the franchise. Tendulkar Jr., who has been with the franchise since 2020, was slated to make his IPL debut in 2023.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, although this deal hasn’t been widely discussed in the media, it’s almost confirmed. Both franchises have entered into a cash-based deal. Shardul was signed by Lucknow for ₹2 crore, while Arjun Tendulkar was signed by Mumbai for just ₹30 lakh. Arjun was given the opportunity to play in just one match by Mumbai last season.
Although neither team has officially confirmed this trade yet, the situation will become clearer when all teams release their retention lists on November 15th. However, Ravichandran Ashwin confirmed Shardul Thakur’s move to Mumbai on his YouTube channel.
