IPL 2026 auction will take place next week. It is believed that there will be one player for whom a lot of money is almost certain. Two teams, Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings can try their best to sign the player.

Rising expections around IPL 2026 auction

The BCCI has shortlisted only 350 players for this year’s IPL auction. Although many names were submitted, bidding on so many players is not feasible, so the shortlist has been narrowed down to accommodate the teams’ preferences. This year’s auction will take place on December 16th, with Abu Dhabi set as the venue.

The 350 players shortlisted for this year’s auction include 240 Indian players and 110 foreign players. Of these 240 Indian players, 224 are uncapped, meaning they have not yet played an international match for India. However, even among these 350 players, a significant number will remain unsold, as teams currently have only 77 available slots.

Cameron Green in IPL auction

In 2024, Cameron Green played 29 matches in the IPL, scoring 255 runs. In 2023, he played 16 matches and scored 452 runs, scoring one century and two half-centuries. He missed the 2025 season, but is now back in the reckoning for 2026.

Cameron Green’s price is expected to be quite high this time around, and it’s already being predicted. If his price goes higher, there are only two teams that will be able to bid on him: KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) and CSK (Chennai Super Kings). Both teams have significant cash reserves and could pursue Green for considerable distance.

Chennai Super Kings currently have Rs 43.4 crore left. They also have a total of 9 slots vacant. They can buy four foreign players from this. Apart from this, if we talk about KKR, they have the maximum amount of Rs 64.3 crore left. The team has 13 slots vacant and from this they can buy 6 foreign players. Some other teams also can show interest on him.
