Another series, another record can break. Indian cricket fan’s favorite ‘Hitman’ will be on centre of the stage during India vs South Africa ODI series. He can achieve another international record with his batting.
Rohit Sharma has so far scored 19,902 runs in 502 matches across all three formats of international cricket. During this period, he has scored 50 centuries and 109 half-centuries. As soon as he scores 98 runs, he will become the fourth Indian cricketer and the 14th cricketer in the world to score 20,000 runs in international cricket. So far, only Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and Rahul Dravid have achieved this feat for India. Now, Rohit Sharma’s name will also be added to the list of legends.

Team India will play a home ODI series for the first time since February 2025. Therefore, all eyes will be on veteran players like Rohit and Virat during this series. They performed brilliantly in the recent ODI series against Australia. In the three matches of that series, Rohit scored 202 runs at an average of 101. In the final match of the series, he played an unbeaten inning of 121 runs. Rohit will be looking to replicate that performance in the South Africa series.
Shubman and Shreyas are out of the ODI series
The BCCI recently announced the 15-member Indian squad for the ODI series against South Africa. Shubman Gill is recovering from a neck injury and is therefore not part of this series. Shreyas Iyer, meanwhile, is still not fully fit. In their absence, KL Rahul has been appointed captain for this ODI series. It will be interesting to see how Team India performs under his captaincy.
