As multiple franchise leagues running around the world, multiple young batters and bowlers are getting the chances to show their talents. Cricket records have often been set by hitting six sixes in an over, but have you ever seen 48 runs scored in a single over?

Fantastic batting display by the young batter

A few years ago, young Afghan batsman Sediqullah Atal stunned the cricketing world with this remarkable feat. Atal, then just 21 years old, created a sensation by hitting seven sixes in an over. This historic moment occurred in the Kabul Premier League, when Shaheen Hunters were playing a match against Abasin Defenders. Batting first, Shaheen Hunters had scored 158 for 6 in 18 overs.

Captain Sediqullah Atal was firmly at the crease. Then left-arm spinner Amir Zazai came in to bowl the 19th over. The very first ball of the over was a no-ball, which Atal hit straight into the stands. After that, the bowler completely lost control. Zazai bowled five consecutive wides. The next time he bowled a legal ball, it was a free hit, and Atal sent it for a towering six. Atal’s storm continued unabated, hitting sixes off the next five legal balls.

In this single over, Sediqullah Atal scored 48 runs (7 runs off no-balls + 5 wides = 12 runs + 6 sixes = 36 runs) and took his team past 200. He also reached his century in just 48 balls. This over was nothing short of a nightmare for Aamir Zazai, who conceded a total of 79 runs in his four overs. Riding on Atal’s explosive batting, Shaheen Hunters posted a mammoth total of 213 for 6.

In reply, Abasin Defenders collapsed under pressure and were all out for just 121. Shaheen Hunters won the match by a massive 92 runs. Sediqullah Atal was named Man of the Match for his unbeaten 118 off 56 balls. His innings included 7 fours and 10 sixes.
