The three-match ODI series between India and New Zealand is set to begin on January 11th. The first match of the series will be played in Baroda. Several Indian players have already arrived there and begun their preparations. It has been learned that Shreyas Iyer has also been given the green light. This means he will now return to action after his injury.

Shreyas Iyer fitnes update ahead of IND vs NZ series

The BCCI announced the Indian team for the India vs. New Zealand ODI series last Saturday. Captain Shubman Gill and vice-captain Shreyas Iyer were named. However, a condition was imposed on Shreyas. The BCCI had made it clear at the time that Shreyas Iyer would only play if he was given the green signal. Now it has come to light that CoA chief VVS Laxman has sent an email to Team India’s chief selector Ajit Agarkar, stating that Shreyas Iyer is fully prepared to play in the upcoming series.

With this, it should be understood that Shreyas Iyer’s rehab is now over. With this, he can now leave the CAO and join the team. Earlier on Tuesday, Shreyas Iyer played a Vijay Hazare Trophy match and scored runs. This means he has proven his fitness by taking the field.

He plays for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Shreyas played a brilliant inning of 82 runs in the Mumbai vs. Himachal match on Tuesday. He is now a contender to be selected in the playing eleven for the first ODI against New Zealand on January 11th. He is the vice-captain of the team, so his participation is almost certain.

Shreyas Iyer played his last international match on October 25th during the series against Australia. He was injured in that match and has been out of the team since. He batted in two matches of that series, scoring a half-century. He may be seen batting at number four during the series against New Zealand.
