Educational Qualification
If you live in the state of Bihar, then if you want to apply for the recruitment of Ophthalmic Assistant posts on behalf of the State Health Society (SHS) of Bihar Government, ISC (Biology or Mathematics) / 10 + 2 (Biology or Mathematics) with two years Diploma in Optometry or two years training as Ophthalmic Assistant in any recognized Government Hospital as per the guidelines of NPCB is mandatory.
Or it is necessary to have ISC (Biology or Mathematics) / 10 + 2 (Biology or Mathematics) with 2 2-year Diploma in Ophthalmic Assistant from a Government / Private / Semi Government Institute recognised by the Government of Bihar.
Age Limit
The minimum age of all the candidates in this recruitment has been fixed at 21 years. However, the maximum age limit is different for each category, due to which the maximum age limit has been fixed at 37 years for Unreserved Category / EWS (Male), 40 years for Backward Classes / Extremely Backward Classes (Male and Female), 40 years for Unreserved Category / EWS (Female) and 42 years for Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe (Male and Female).
According to the notification issued, the age of the candidate will be calculated on the basis of 1 August 2025.
Application Fee
A fee is payable for applying for the ophthalmic assistant posts, due to which the fee for General Category / Backwards Class / Extremely Backwards Class / Economically Weaker Section has been kept at Rs 500, while the same Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe (permanent resident of Bihar state) is Rs 125. Reserved / Unreserved Category Female Candidates (Permanent Resident of Bihar State) – Rs 125 will have to be paid.

However, in this recruitment, a fee of Rs 500 is applicable for all other candidates and Rs 125 for Divyang candidates (40% or more).
