New Delhi: Clouds have settled over various regions of the country, bringing with them spells of drizzle and strong winds in many places. This has led to a drop in temperatures, offering people much-needed relief from the scorching heat. In Uttar Pradesh as well, the weather has undergone a complete shift.
In certain parts of Western UP, drizzle accompanied by winds was recorded in the morning hours, resulting in a decline in temperature levels. The next 48 hours are expected to be challenging for the state. The movement of clouds is likely to persist across most regions. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a warning for heavy rainfall has been issued for several areas within the state.

Key Weather Updates for UP
According to the IMD, the weather pattern across various parts of Uttar Pradesh is expected to appear significantly altered. As a result of this influence, atmospheric humidity has increased; furthermore, the interaction of this moisture with hot air masses has raised the likelihood of thunderstorms and squalls. The phenomenon of sudden strong winds and cloud cover descending by evening—following a day of intense sunshine and heat—is likely an indication of this developing weather system. Consequently, the weather scenario in several districts is currently undergoing rapid and dramatic changes.
Western UP Most Affected
According to the IMD, Western Uttar Pradesh currently appears to be the most vulnerable zone. In districts such as Agra, Aligarh, Mathura, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Baghpat, Bulandshahr, Hapur, and Saharanpur, there is a forecast for rain accompanied by thunderstorms and squalls. Wind speeds in these areas are expected to reach between 50 and 60 kilometres per hour.
These weather conditions are anticipated to pose challenges not only to daily life but also to crops. There is also a possibility of hailstorms occurring in certain pockets. Consequently, the risk of damage remains elevated. Meanwhile, the changing weather trend in the Lucknow-Kanpur belt is expected to intensify and become more active after the evening hours. Additionally, the weather in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh is currently in a transitional phase.
Humidity May Prevail Here
According to the Meteorological Department, heat and humidity are likely to be observed in Uttar Pradesh’s capital—Lucknow—as well as in Kanpur, Unnao, Sitapur, and their surrounding areas. While hot and humid conditions may persist during the day in neighbouring districts, there is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by cloud movement and thunderstorms after the evening.
Furthermore, wind speeds are expected to range between 40 and 5kilometresrs per hour. This raises the likelihood of deteriorating weather conditions. Meanwhile, Eastern UP faces an increased risk of lightning strikes, along with the possibility of light rainfall.
