Following the shooting, the police made a significant statement during their investigation. In a statement, the police said that the attackers, who arrived in two vehicles, fired at people inside the tavern and continued to fire indiscriminately as they fled the scene.
Provincial Police Commissioner Major General Fred Kekana told SABC television that one of the deceased was a driver who was outside the bar.
