New Delhi: A shocking incident has emerged from the Sheetla Mata Temple in Nalanda,Bihar,leaving everyone deeply shaken. According to the latest updates,nine people have died in a stampede that occurred at the Sheetla Mata Temple. Among the deceased are eight women,while seven other individuals have sustained injuries. All the injured have been admitted to the hospital,where the death toll could potentially rise further.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed his profound grief over this tragic accident and has announced relief assistance for the families of the deceased. A compensation of ₹6 lakh each will be provided to the next of kin of the victims. Furthermore,directives have been issued to ensure free medical treatment for all those injured.
Government to Provide ₹6 Lakh Compensation to Families of the Deceased.
The Chief Minister’s Office in Bihar issued a statement offering humble tributes to the devotees who lost their lives and expressing deep condolences to the victims’ families. The Chief Minister has directed that compensation be provided to the dependents of the deceased,comprising ₹4 lakh from the Disaster Management Department and ₹2 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (totalling ₹6 lakh). Additionally,the government has issued instructions to provide free medical care to all those injured in the incident.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar stated that this incident is deeply tragic and that he is profoundly distressed by it. Acting on CM Nitish Kumar’s directives,senior officials have reached the accident site and are actively engaged in relief and rescue operations. The Chief Minister has wished for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident and has directed that they receive appropriate medical treatment.
How the Accident Occurred: An Account
According to eyewitnesses,the accident was horrific. On the auspicious occasion of Sheetlashtami,a massive crowd of devotees had gathered at the Sheetla Mata Temple since early morning. The crowd swelled even further due to the ongoing ‘Mangala Mela’ (fair).
Amidst this gathering,several women fainted and collapsed,triggering sudden chaos and panic. People began stumbling and falling over one another,leading to a stampede-like situation.
As a result of this tragic accident,nine people—including eight women—lost their lives. Several others sustained injuries and have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. People stated that had comprehensive security arrangements been in place,perhaps the lives of so many people could have been saved. It was due to the lack of organisation that nine people lost their lives in the stampede.
