On Monday, the Lok Sabha began a discussion after 12 noon on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the national song, Vande Mataram, with PM Modi as the first speaker. Gaurav Gogoi and Priyanka Gandhi are among the key speakers from the Congress side. The discussion on ‘Vande Mataram’ is scheduled for about ten hours. The Lok Sabha is expected to continue until late Monday night.

Gaurav Gogoi made a significant statement.

Following the Prime Minister’s speech, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi launched a scathing attack on the central government. He said that he understood only two things from the Prime Minister’s speech today. First, it seemed as if his political ancestors were fighting the British.

Second, he wanted to politically dispute Vande Mataram. Gogoi further sarcastically remarked, “You target Nehru and the Congress every time, but no matter how hard you try, you won’t be able to tarnish Nehru’s image.”

He further said, “You talk about the 1937 Congress session, but I want to ask, where were your political ancestors during the Quit India Movement of 1942?” Gogoi said, “The Muslim League demanded a complete boycott of Vande Mataram. Our leader, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, said, ‘I have no objection to Vande Mataram.’ This is the difference between our Maulana Azad and the Muslim League.
