After the formation of the new government in Delhi, many improvements are being made across the city. One of the major steps is the introduction of new electric buses to make public transport better and more efficient. Delhi buses have been running at a loss for a long time. To reduce this loss, the government is now making special arrangements in the new buses to stop ticket fraud. Actually, APC cameras are being installed in these new buses to prevent such fraud. Let’s understand how APC cameras work.
APC Cameras in Delhi’s New Buses
What Are APC Cameras?
Automatic Passenger Counting (APC) cameras will be installed at the doors of Delhi’s new buses. These cameras will count how many people get on and off the bus and will prepare a record of the passenger numbers. This data will be sent to a central server.
How Will They Help?
The number of passengers recorded by the APC cameras will be compared with the number of tickets issued by the conductor. This will help catch and stop any ticket fraud.

Where Will the Data Go?
According to the officials from the company installing these cameras, all APC cameras will be connected to the servers of DMTS and DTC—the organizations that manage Delhi’s buses. The data from the APC cameras will also be saved temporarily in a device installed inside the bus. This data will be kept only for a certain period, and it will stay on the server until the company deletes it.
New Facilities in Delhi Buses
Delhi’s new electric buses come with several passenger-friendly features. One important addition is a foldable ramp for passengers with disabilities. This makes the buses more accessible and convenient for everyone.
