Various locations across Western UP are witnessing rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning, resulting in a noticeable drop in temperature levels.
Several parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh have also recorded a decline in temperatures due to rain accompanied by strong winds. Meanwhile, numerous regions across South India are experiencing rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. There appears to be little likelihood of any respite in the coming days. The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall across various regions of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Snowfall is also expected in these areas. An alert for hailstorms at isolated locations within these regions has been issued, valid until March 20.

Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Rajasthan are likely to experience scattered rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning until March 20. The weather’s most significant impact in these regions is expected to manifest in the form of strong winds. The IMD has indicated that these states may experience spells of gusty winds blowing at speeds ranging from 30 to 50 kilometres per hour.
Warning of Heavy Rainfall in These States as Well
According to the Meteorological Department, an alert regarding weather conditions has been issued for Northeast India, covering the period from March 20 to March 22. Light to moderate rainfall is likely in several parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya. Around March 20, some isolated locations in Arunachal Pradesh may experience heavy rainfall. This weather activity is expected to remain confined to specific, limited areas.
A weather alert has been issued for Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, warning of rain accompanied by thunder and lightning between March 20 and 22. Along with lightning strikes, strong winds gusting at speeds of 30–40 kilometres per hour are also expected in these regions. An alert has also been issued for Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, forecasting light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning around March 20.
Rainfall Accompanied by Hailstorms
According to the Meteorological Department, the impact of the weather system is expected to be most pronounced across Central and Eastern India on March 21. An alert for light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, has been issued for Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh. Additionally, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha may experience rainfall on March 20 and 21.
