Xiaomi has globally launched the new Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro, both phones are bringing significant upgrades that elevate the T-series closer to flagships. The primary focus this year is on battery, cameras, and next-gen performance. The most significant addition to the list is huge silicon-carbon batteries, the Xiaomi 17T Pro includes an astonishing 7000mAh unit in a remarkably slim profile. That, coupled with Leica-tuned 5x periscope zoom cameras and bright AMOLED panels complete the upgrades list of both phones.
Xiaomi 17T Pro brings a massive 7000mAh battery
This is undoubtedly one of the most interesting phones released this year and it all comes down to the battery technology of the Xiaomi 17T Pro. Xiaomi has made use of 16% silicon content in an advanced silicon-carbon battery chemistry to fit a 7000mAh battery inside the 8.25mm thick device. The phone tips the scale at a surprisingly light 219 grams for its segment. The standard Xiaomi 17T is not too far behind with a massive 6500mAh battery, making battery one of the most important areas of the lineup.
Significant upgrade on fast charging
Charging speeds have also seen an immense boost on both devices. The Xiaomi 17T comes with support for 67W wired charging along with 50W PPS support. However, the Xiaomi 17T Pro goes all the way up to 100W wired charging, along with 50W wireless charging and 22.5W reverse charging capabilities. This means users can charge their phones incredibly fast, and also power their accessories, and even other phones from it. Xiaomi is clearly trying to attract the masses who want both battery and fast charging performance.
The Leica 5x Periscope Camera
Camera hardware is yet another segment where Xiaomi is stepping it up a notch. The previous 2x telephoto camera has been replaced by a 50MP Leica-tuned 5x periscope camera on both the devices. This new lens has a 1G plus 6P structure and comes with a telemacro mode allowing users to capture amazing zoom shots as well as ultra-close-up shots from as little as 30 cm away. The main sensor on the Xiaomi 17T Pro is the new 50MP Light Fusion 950 while the standard Xiaomi 17 gets the Light Fusion 800 sensor with OIS support.
More premium display
Both devices are packing high-end AMOLED displays with a resolution of 1.5K and a peak brightness of up to 3500 nits, a really impressive figure for any smartphone. The Xiaomi 17T Pro comes with a smoother 144Hz refresh rate and a special 1 nit ultra-dim mode to minimize strain at night while the display remains incredibly bright. Xiaomi is also adding a more sophisticated eye-care dimming algorithm which aims to lower eye strain during extended sessions. The bezels remain quite slim.
Dimensity 9500 Performance
Performance is another aspect Xiaomi wants to push and the Xiaomi 17T Pro is sporting the flagship Dimensity 9500 chipset based on a 3nm process. Xiaomi claims the Chip boosts graphics rendering performance by 33% while it scores over 3.5 million points on the AnTuTu benchmark. To keep it cool there’s a new and improved 3D IceLoop cooling system. The standard Xiaomi 17 uses the Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor which still manages to pack flagship-level performance and efficiency for its class.
HyperOS 3 and IP68/IP69 rating on the duo
Both the devices run HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 out of the box and come with full IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistant rating. These upgrades clearly mark the beginning of the T-series being considered a performance flagship rather than just a mid-ranger.
Xiaomi 17T India Launch and prices
Globally, the Xiaomi 17T is priced starting from 749 while the Xiaomi 17T Pro will be available from 999. The standard Xiaomi 17T is already confirmed to launch on June 4th in India, however the Pro model might be exclusive to certain international markets only at launch. Should the Pro model make its way to India later it could prove to be the strongest battery-focused flagship in the country of 2026.
