The Rip – Amazon Prime Video
What’s special?: Another collaboration from Hollywood friends and co-stars Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. This film is a real-life crime thriller that tells the story of a Miami narcotics team. During a raid on a dilapidated drug depot, they find millions of dollars in cash.
This unexpected discovery puts the entire team under suspicion and tests their loyalty to each other. The film ‘The Rip’ is based on real events, and Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are not only acting in it but also producing it. This is the first film made under their production company ‘Artists Equity’.
Masti 4 – ZEE5
What’s special?: The fourth installment of the adult comedy franchise sees the return of the trio of Aamir (Riteish Deshmukh), Meet (Vivek Oberoi), and Prem (Aftab Shivdasani). The three get a ‘love visa’ from their wives, a week-long break to do whatever they want.
But when their wives also start using the same visa, the fun doubles, and a riot of laughter ensues. The first film in the ‘Masti’ franchise was released in 2004 and has been quite popular for its humor. The fourth installment will feature the original trio along with some new faces.
Can This Love Be Translated? – Netflix
What’s special?: This is a romantic Korean drama starring Kim Seon-ho, Go Yoon-jung, and Sota Fukushi in the lead roles. The story revolves around a multilingual interpreter and a popular actress whose emotions get lost in “translation” as they travel the world while filming a reality dating show.
Bhama Kalapam – ZEE5
What’s special?: This action-comedy film tells the story of a mysterious common man named Radar, who is struggling with a mental health condition. He kidnaps the Chief Minister of Kerala and, while pretending to address public grievances, embarks on a path of revenge for his family’s misfortunes. The presence of veteran actors like Dileep, Vineeth Sreenivasan, and Mohanlal makes this film special.
Kalamkaaval – SonyLIV
What’s special?: This is an intense crime thriller inspired by the real-life serial killer ‘Cyanide Mohan’. Set in a border village in the early 2000s, the story follows a senior police officer (Mammootty) who is hunting down a psychopath who targets helpless women by luring them with promises of marriage.
It’s a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase. The film is inspired by real events and the cases of a serial killer named ‘Cyanide Mohan’ who was active in Kerala, although the story and characters are fictional.
120 Brave – Amazon Prime Video
What’s special?: This historical war drama depicts the Battle of Rezang La during the 1962 Indo-China War. The film revolves around the indomitable courage of Major Shaitan Singh (played by Farhan Akhtar) and the 120 soldiers of Charlie Company of the 13th Kumaon Regiment.
These brave soldiers valiantly defend the strategically important Rezang La pass against thousands of Chinese soldiers in freezing temperatures. This film is based on the real-life event of the ‘Battle of Rezang La’, considered one of the most heroic battles in Indian military history. Major Shaitan Singh was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his bravery in this war.
Gurram Papireddy – ZEE5
What’s special?: This is a dark crime comedy that revolves around the life of a mysterious con man (Naresh Agastya) who assembles a team of three for a bizarre job: replacing a corpse in a grave! But the plan goes awry when they get caught up in a missing royal family member and a property dispute. Faria Abdullah and Brahmanandam also play important roles.
