Karwa Chauth 2025 School Holiday: October is marked by numerous festivals, which is why there are many holidays in October. Children rejoice as soon as schools are closed, as they have several days off from school. Following Durga Puja, there will be holidays for Diwali and Chhath. Additionally, Karwa Chauth will be celebrated nationwide on Friday, October 10, 2025. Many states will observe a holiday for Karwa Chauth. This festival is particularly celebrated in the northern Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. But the question is, will schools and colleges remain closed on this day?
Karwa Chauth 2025 School Holiday:
Karwa Chauth is celebrated as a traditional and religious festival in India, but it is not a national or state holiday. This means that the central or state governments do not declare a nationwide holiday on this day. Schools and colleges will not be closed for this reason. They will operate as per their schedule. However, many state governments and private educational institutions may declare holidays based on their local traditions and convenience. In some places, optional holidays are provided, especially for women.
Government offices and banks will remain open
There will be no official holiday on the occasion of Karva Chauth. Therefore, government offices, banks, post offices, courts, and other public institutions will remain open as usual.
Diwali holidays:
Uttar Pradesh and Bihar generally observe holidays from October 20th to around October 23rd, covering Govardhan Puja (October 22nd) and Bhai Dooj. These states, including Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra, also declare extended holidays around October 19th and 23rd for the festival of lights.
How many days will schools be closed for Chhath?
In Bihar, Jharkhand, and eastern Uttar Pradesh, October 27th and 28th may be declared official holidays. Many schools will be closed for two to four days, from Nahay-Khaay (October 25th) to October 28th.
