JNU PhD Admission 2025 : Only for the doctoral studies of JNU students to be admitted during the years 2025 to 2026. The candidates can visit the website jnuee.jnu.ac.in to apply. The application will remain open until July 7, 2025, 11:50 PM.

Admission Based on JRF, NET or GATE Scores

Ph.D. admissions will be based on the scores of national-level intermediate exams. Candidates are expected to have qualified in JRF, UGC-NET, or GATE. For applying for an engineering Ph.D. program, GATE scores would be accepted by JNU. Degrees mentioned earlier would have to accompany this qualification.

Eligibility Criteria

A candidate must have:

Master’s degree (One or two years) with 55% marks.

M.Phil. degree with 55%.

Four-year bachelor degree with a minimum of 75% (relaxation to 70% is given to SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD).

Mode of Admission and Protest

The admissions have completely been on the basis of JRF, NET, and GATE scorecards. Protests came from students in the assertion that “students appearing for June 2025 UGC-NET shouldn’t have been given admission to this university.” Other protests concern filling the demands of bringing the former JNUEE entrance exam system back.

What students need to do

Candidates need to check whether they meet eligibility criteria and academic profile to apply at the JNU PhD Program. Apply within the stipulated time and prepare for the viva-voce. All candidates must visit the official application website regularly for timely updates regarding merit list, document verification, and finalization of admission.
