GATE 2026 Exam Calendar Released: A major update has arrived for candidates preparing to take the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has released the complete GATE 2026 exam schedule. Candidates can download the full schedule by visiting the official website, gate2026.iitg.ac.in. This year, the GATE exam will be held over four days in February 2026, with papers conducted in two shifts.

When will GATE 2026 be held? GATE 2026 Exam Date

GATE 2026 will be held on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026.

The exam will be held in two sessions each day.

  • Forenoon Session: 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM
  • Afternoon Session: 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM

This four-day exam will include papers for all engineering and other subjects within the stipulated time.

When will the GATE 2026 result be released?

IIT Guwahati has clarified that the GATE 2026 result will be declared on March 19, 2026. Candidates will be able to check their results online on the website.

GATE 2026 Eligibility: Who can apply?

The eligibility criteria for GATE 2026 remain the same:

Candidates in the third year or final year of an undergraduate (UG) program can apply.

Candidates who have completed any government-recognised degree in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts, or humanities are also eligible.

Students studying at foreign universities must also have completed a bachelor’s degree of at least three years.

Candidates with three-year degrees such as B.Sc., B.A., B.Com. Can take GATE for admission to master’s programs at IITs and IISc.

Certifications obtained from professional institutions must be recognised by the Ministry of Education, Education, Science, Technology, and the UPSC.
