PhonePe UPI Circle: Digital payments have become the order of the day, and PhonePe has now launched a special feature that will make transactions between groups even smoother. PhonePe has launched the UPI Circle feature, which enables users to approve payments on behalf of others, eliminating the need to juggle several bank accounts or UPI IDs. The update is designed to simplify payments for families and close groups of people in a controlled and safe manner.
What is UPI Circle in PhonePe
PhonePe’s recently introduced UPI Circle enables customers to create a group with one member as the primary user. The primary user is in control of all payments made by the secondary members of the group. The primary user can authorize payments for family or friends once the circle is created, even if such members do not have a bank account or a linked UPI ID.
How UPI Circle Works
Under this arrangement, secondary users can make payments through their own UPI IDs, but all their transactions will need approval from the primary user. The primary user has the option to accept or reject payment requests and also determine what can be spent. The user can track payment history, set spend limits, and even add or remove members at will. A maximum of five secondary users can be added for a single primary user, making it a good option for small groups.
Steps to Set Up UPI Circle
Users have to upgrade the PhonePe app to the latest version in order to activate UPI Circle. After that, the feature can be found on the home screen. When users tap on ‘UPI Circle’, they are allowed to add friends or relatives by inputting UPI IDs or scanning QR codes. Spending limits and permissions (full or partial) can be set along with the duration of validity. The final step involves setting a UPI PIN to complete the setup, which activates within 30 minutes. Secondary users will require biometric or passcode authentication before making payments.
Why UPI Circle is a Game Changer
This new addition is particularly convenient for families in which one person manages finances or parents who desire to monitor the spending of children. It benefits elderly citizens also, who have difficulty making digital payments. Security and control have a top priority with UPI Circle, offering flexibility without trading off security.
Security Measures and Limitations
The UPI Circle has robust layers of authentication. Final payments can only be authorized by the primary user. Secondary users have to authenticate themselves through biometrics or a password. A circle can have a maximum of five secondary users simultaneously so that the feature will stay in control and secure.
