Katra to Srinagar : Good news for train lovers. Now you will reach Srinagar from Katra in just 3 hours and Rs 700. From tomorrow Saturday 7 June 2025, two new Vande Bharat trains are being started between Katra and Srinagar. That is, now it will be very easy for the passengers traveling to Vaishno Devi to go from Katra to Srinagar. These trains will prove to be a big gift for the people and tourists of Kashmir.
Passing through beautiful valleys, the fast and comfortable Vande Bharat train can now become the new identity of Kashmir. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will start these trains on June 6 and from June 7, common people will be able to use them.
Fare
The journey from Katra to Srinagar will be completed in just three hours with the new Vande Bharat trains. Train number 26401 will leave from Katra at 8:10 am and reach Srinagar at 11:08 am. There will be a two-minute stop at Banihal station in between. The fare for the chair car will be Rs 715 and for the executive class it will be Rs 1,320. On the return journey, train number 26402 will leave from Srinagar for Katra at 2 pm and reach at 4:58 pm. Its fare will be Rs 880 (chair car) and Rs 1,515 (executive). This train will run six days a week. These trains will not run only on Tuesdays.
The second train number 26403 will leave from Katra at 2:55 pm and reach Srinagar at 5:53 pm. Its journey will also be of 2 hours 58 minutes. The fare of this train will be Rs 660 for chair car and Rs 1,270 for executive class. Its fare is slightly less because the catering charge has been kept low in it. The return train (26404) will leave from Srinagar at 8 am and reach Katra at 10:58 am. Its fare will be Rs 715 and Rs 1,320. This train will not run on Wednesday.
With the introduction of these Vande Bharat trains, Kashmir is now connected to the rest of the country through the railway network. Earlier, trains used to run in the Kashmir Valley, but they were not connected to the national rail network. This connectivity has become possible after the completion of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project (USBRL).
