Right now, the Aadhaar card has become the most important document along with your ID proof. The Unique Identification Authority of India, i.e., UIDAI, issues 12-digit Aadhaar cards. It contains all your biometric data, name, address, date of birth, etc. Government facilities can also be availed with this card.
Blue Aadhaar Card
Every citizen of India has an Aadhaar card. UIDAI even makes Aadhaar cards for newborn babies. The Aadhaar card for children is called the Baal Aadhaar card or Blue Aadhaar card. The Aadhaar card of a newborn child is made through the birth discharge certificate and the Aadhaar card of the parents. Aadhar cards for children help in taking advantage of government schemes like education, health, and other welfare schemes. The Aadhar card is an important document for the identification of children, which is necessary for school admission, opening a bank account, and other activities.
To get an Aadhaar card made for a child, there should be a birth certificate, details of the Aadhaar card of the parents, and a letter from the hospital where the child was born.
How to get a blue Aadhaar card
For this, first go to UIDAI’s website, uidai.gov.in. For registration, click on Aadhaar Card registration. Parents will have to provide information about the child, such as name, parent’s phone number, and biometric data. Submit other information like home address, community, state, etc. in the form. For further processing, you will have to go to the UIDAI center. At the UIDAI center, the child and his complete information will have to be verified. After this, the child’s Aadhaar card will be made.
According to UIDAI rules, it is mandatory for children to have their biometrics updated twice in their Aadhaar cards. First time at the age of 5 and second time at the age of 15. This process is called Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU). In this, the child’s photo, fingerprint, and iris scan are recorded again. This update is necessary to maintain the validity of the Aadhaar card and avoid any problems in the future.
Actually, biometrics are not taken in the Aadhaar card of children below 5 years of age. Their Aadhaar is made on the basis of the documents of the parents. That is why it is called Baal Aadhaar. When the child turns 5 years old, it is necessary to update his fingerprint and iris scan.
This happens due to changes in the bodies of children. As the child grows up, his biometrics also start changing. Therefore, it is necessary to get the biometrics updated again at the age of 15. In this update, the child’s fingerprint, iris scan, and new photo are added. Then this child Aadhaar is converted into an Aadhaar card.
The entire process of updating Aadhaar cards for children between the ages of 5 and 15 is absolutely free. This can be done by visiting the nearest Aadhaar center. If you want to update your Aadhaar card to correct any mistake, then you may have to pay a nominal charge for this.
