Weather Forecast for Hilly Regions

According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), weather activity is expected to remain quite vigorous across the hilly regions of the Western Himalayan states. Light to moderate rain and snowfall are forecast for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh between April 27 and 28. Additionally, strong winds—gusting at speeds of 30 to 50 kilometres per hour—are likely to occur, accompanied by thunder and lightning.

The IMD has indicated that weather conditions will remain active in Himachal Pradesh from April 28 to 30, and in Uttarakhand from April 28 to May 2. Isolated instances of hailstorms are also anticipated in these regions. Specifically, hailstorms are likely in Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh on April 28, while in Uttarakhand, the risk of hailstorms persists on both April 28 and 29.

In the hilly tracts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, heavy rainfall—accompanied by thunder, lightning, and strong winds ranging from 40 to 50 km/h—is expected throughout the week.

IMD Alert for Uttar Pradesh

According to the IMD, an alert regarding intense heat has been issued for Uttar Pradesh. Rainfall is expected to commence in the state starting April 27. Consequently, there is a possibility that residents will experience some relief from the severe heat.

The IMD stated that due to the activation of a new Western Disturbance, light rainfall may be observed in certain districts of Western Uttar Pradesh on April 27. Due to clouds and rainfall, a drop in temperature of approximately 3 to 5 degrees Celsius may be observed.

Warning of Severe Heat in These Regions

According to the IMD, severe heat conditions are likely in several parts of Himachal Pradesh on April 27. Heatwave conditions are expected on April 27 in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Bihar, and Gujarat.

Similar conditions are likely to persist in East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh from April 27 to April 28. Additionally, humid heat conditions are expected in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema from April 27 to April 30, and in Kerala and Mahe on April 27.
