Heavy Rain Alert: Due to severe heat across various parts of the country, people are facing extremely difficult conditions. In its latest bulletin, the Meteorological Department has stated that intense heatwave conditions are expected to prevail in parts of Northwest and Central India over the next three days. Consequently, people have been advised to remain cautious. The Meteorological Department reported that the highest maximum temperature—46.9°C—was recorded in Akola (Vidarbha).
Additionally, heatwave conditions were experienced in certain locations within Vidarbha, as well as in isolated pockets of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Conversely, the IMD has forecast the likelihood of thunderstorm activity in Eastern India over the coming week; in Northwest India between April 28 and May 2; and in Central India between April 27 and April 30. As a result, rainfall is expected to provide some relief from the heat, accompanied by a significant drop of 3 to 5 degrees Celsius.

Weather Outlook for the Hill States
The Meteorological Department forecasts heavy rainfall in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand between April 28 and May 2. Furthermore, these states are also expected to experience snowfall. An alert has also been issued regarding the possibility of hailstorms in these states on April 28 and 29.
Weather Outlook for the Plains
The Meteorological Department predicts that dust storms may begin in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh on the night of April 27, with a likelihood of rainfall. In Rajasthan, adverse weather conditions are expected to persist from April 26 to April 29.

Weather Outlook for Eastern India
An alert has been issued for West Bengal and Sikkim, anticipating light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds (gusting up to 30–50 kmph) between April 27 and May 2. Additionally, light to moderate rainfall is likely in Jharkhand and Odisha during this same period (April 27 to May 2).
Furthermore, until April 30, light to moderate rainfall—accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds (gusting up to 30–50 kmph)—may be recorded in isolated pockets of Bihar. On April 27, hailstorms are likely to occur in some areas of Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand.
Central India Weather Update
Between April 27 and April 30, isolated instances of light to moderate rainfall—accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds—are likely in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
South and Central India
Kerala: An alert has been issued regarding the possibility of heavy rainfall between April 29 and May 1.
Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh: Light to moderate rainfall and lightning strikes are anticipated between April 27 and April 30.
