Weather Update – Dense fog has made life miserable in many areas of India. Morning and evening fog has slowed the pace of life to a crawl. Trains are running hours late. Temperatures are continuously dropping in the hilly areas. The situation is so bad that snowfall has made everything feel cool.
Late-night rain in some areas of South India has brought down the temperature. The weather has also become pleasant in many places. Cold wave-like conditions prevail in Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi NCR, leaving people shivering. The northeastern states are also experiencing severe cold. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, a warning has been issued for heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in various parts of the country.
Dense fog will prevail here.
The Meteorological Department has predicted dense fog in the mornings in some areas of Assam and Manipur from December 9th to 13th. Dense fog is expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh and Odisha on December 10th. Meanwhile, a western disturbance persists over Pakistan.
A trough in the easterly winds extends along the southeast Bay of Bengal. The western disturbance may impact the Himalayan regions. Furthermore, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands may experience lightning, strong winds of 30-40 kmph, and thunderstorms until December.
Possibility of Rain in These Areas
According to the Meteorological Department, an alert has been issued to stay away from the Arabian Sea coast until December 13th. Heavy rain has been warned in the Gulf of Munnar, the southwest and southeast Bay of Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry.
Heavy rain is expected in some areas of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Karnataka. People have been advised not to venture outside due to the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning.
