Nanda Gaura Scheme: The central and state governments have a bunch of schemes aimed at helping daughters. One of the most well-known ones from the central government is the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana. On the state level, there are also various initiatives for daughters. For instance, the Uttarakhand government has the Nanda Gaura Yojana. If you’re interested, make sure to apply before December 20, 2025.

With the Nanda Gaura Yojana, the Uttarakhand government offers financial support from the moment a daughter is born until she finishes 12th grade. When a daughter is born, a lump sum is put into a joint account for the mother and daughter. After she completes 12th grade, the funds are released. The scheme transfers money in two phases. Its goal is to promote the idea of “Educate the daughter, save the daughter.” This initiative helps financially disadvantaged families, benefiting both mothers and daughters.

Under the Nanda Gaura scheme, families can receive Rs 62,000

The Nanda Gaura Yojana gives Rs 11,000 right after a daughter is born. Registration is needed after the girl is born. The money is then deposited into the joint bank account of the mother and daughter. The next payment happens when the girl finishes her 12th grade, at which point the government adds Rs 51,000 to her account. In total, the benefits from this scheme amount to Rs 62,000.

The aim of the Nanda Gaura scheme is to:

1. Prevent female foeticide even before daughters are born.

2. Prohibit child marriage.

3. Empower girls through education.
