Rules related to UPI payments are set to change from the next month. In every new month, there are chances to see some changes in rule in various sectors. This time, changes related to UPI payments is expected to happen from November 3. Different cycles will now be applied to authorized and disputed transactions. The coming changes in payment procedure is expected to make the process more smooth and safer than before. As we know that using UPI, online payment system has grown rapidly popular among common people. Now, the process is smooth and user friendly. But issues related to security are still there. So, to make every single transaction safe, the authority have to change some rules after a period.
What changes we can expect?
Currently, UPI processes ten settlement cycles daily through RTGS, with each cycle including both authorized and disputed settlements. Given the increasing transaction volume, it has now been decided to process authorized and disputed settlements separately to ensure timely daily settlements. What is the arrangement?
Under the new system, only authorized transactions will be processed in all cycles from 1 to 10, excluding any disputes. There are no changes to the existing cut-over timings and RTGS posting timelines.
Steps for Disputed transactions as well
Disputed transactions will now be processed twice a day, in settlement cycles 11 and 12. These cycles will only include disputed transactions. Additionally, DC1 and DC2 identifiers (where DC stands for Dispute Cycle) will be added to the NTSL file naming convention.
Some other rule changes we can also expect
Other settlement rules, such as timings, reconciliation reports, and GST reports, will remain unchanged. Meanwhile, NPCI has also extended the deadline for deactivating all AutoPay mandates associated with the old @paytm UPI ID handles by two months to October 31, 2025.
