UIDAI shared on X (formerly Twitter) that this new feature will let people update their registered mobile numbers remotely. While they haven’t given a specific launch date yet, UIDAI assures that the process will be a lot easier and more convenient than what we have now.
How do you update your mobile number now?
At the moment, if you want to update your mobile number, you have to go to an Aadhaar Seva Kendra or enrollment center, where they do biometric authentication. But with the new feature, you won’t have to make that physical trip anymore.
UIDAI is working on making this process online, using biometrics or secure OTP verification. You’ll be able to do this through the myAadhaar portal or app.

What’s the fee for an Aadhaar update?
If you’re changing your name, address, gender, date of birth, mobile number, or email address along with a biometric update, it’s completely free. But if you do these updates separately, there will be a fee of Rs 75 for each update. UIDAI has also updated the list of documents to simplify the Aadhaar update and enrollment process. Previously, people faced significant difficulties due to lack of documents or confusion, but the new rules will significantly reduce this difficulty.
