Toll Price – Big news for vehicle owners. The new expressway being built between Lucknow and Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh is poised to provide a significant solution to traffic congestion. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has announced toll rates for this expressway, with the biggest relief being the availability of an annual pass for daily drivers, costing only Rs 3,000. This pass will only require a daily toll of approximately Rs 15, making it affordable for commuters.

There will be a huge change in the journey

Once this new expressway is completed, the approximately 90-kilometer journey from Lucknow to Kanpur will take just one hour, compared to the current three hours required due to traffic jams and slow traffic. The expressway is being constructed with six lanes, which can be expanded to eight lanes if needed in the future. This modern road will be able to handle increasing vehicle traffic for the next 50 years.

According to the NHAI announcement, the one-way toll for general travelers will be Rs 125. However, annual pass holders will receive a significant discount, resulting in a daily toll of only Rs 15. This facility will be exclusively available to non-commercial vehicles such as private cars, bikes, and commuters. Toll charges for commercial vehicles will be determined separately, and there is currently no exemption for them.

The construction of the new expressway will reduce traffic on the existing national highway by approximately 50 to 60 percent. This will significantly reduce congestion on the old road and provide a smoother travel experience for commuters. According to NHAI, the expressway will carry over 40,000 vehicles daily, significantly facilitating and speeding travel between the two cities.

The expressway will also feature amenities like CCTV cameras, EV charging stations, and ambulances for the convenience of travelers, making it even safer and more convenient. Construction is currently progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed soon.
