About 3,000 poor families will not get ration from the Food Supply Department in September. This is because depot holders did not get the full amount of wheat they asked for. In September, the headquarters gave 56,611 kg less wheat to the district. Depot holders had asked for 28,29,925 kg of wheat, but they got only 22,63,814 kg for ration.
Less Wheat in September Ration
Due to less wheat from the department, depot holders will face more problems in ration distribution. Many ration card holders often fight with depot holders when ration is not available. This problem happens almost every month with the Food Supply Department.
In Rewari district, there are more than 1.5 lakh ration card holders. Out of these, 1,40,011 are BPL (yellow card) and 10,119 are AAY (pink card). Every month, wheat, sugar, and mustard oil are given to these families through 253 depots. BPL card holders get 5 kg wheat, 1 kg sugar, and 2 kg mustard oil per person. AAY card holders get 35 kg wheat, 1 kg sugar, and 2 kg mustard oil per family. In winter, BPL card holders get 3 kg millet and 2 kg wheat per person, and AAY card holders get 24 kg millet and 11 kg wheat per family.
Statement from Officers
Food Supply Controller Jaikumar said that less wheat came for September ration. The demand was sent to the headquarters. Depot Association head Nagarmal Lakhera said they always get less wheat. Because of this, depot holders face fights with card holders. If the full quota comes, problems will reduce.
