Success Story: One idea and life was fully changed of Lalti Devi’s. Lalti Devi’s journey from Chhapra is truly motivational. Faced with unemployment, managing household expenses became a challenge. However, after discovering a business idea on YouTube, she transformed into a thriving entrepreneur. Living in Bareja, part of the Manjhi block, Lalti was deeply concerned about her family’s financial struggles. With her husband working as an auto driver, it was tough to make ends meet, and their children’s education was also at risk.
Inspiration from YouTube
One day, while browsing YouTube on her phone, Lalti stumbled upon the idea of starting her own business. This led her to join Jeevika, where she initially secured a loan of 50,000 rupees to establish a mushroom production venture. She not only began cultivating mushrooms but also learned to create various mushroom-based products like pickles, papad, and powder. Now, her products are sold across different regions of Bihar and even shipped to Bokaro in Jharkhand.
Earning up to 2 lakh rupees
In an interview, Lalti shared that she was once unemployed, and her husband’s income as an auto driver made it hard to support the family. Inspired by a YouTube video, she took a loan from Jeevika to kickstart her mushroom production. Today, she produces and sells a variety of mushroom products, earning up to 2 lakh rupees each season. Her success story is now motivating other women in her community, who are also considering starting similar businesses.
Empowering Women
These women are now becoming self-sufficient, selling their products at stalls during events like the Sonepur fair and other gatherings in Patna and beyond. More than a dozen women have joined this growing industry, receiving substantial support from Jeevika. The organization not only provides training but also offers loans to help women launch their businesses, fostering their journey toward independence.
