Train Cancelled News: Millions of people travel by train every day in India. The railway network is an integral part of everyday life, transporting millions of people to their destinations. However, when track repairs or station development work begins, train operations are affected. In this context, South Eastern Railway has decided to begin remodeling work at the Shalimar station yard, resulting in the temporary cancellation of several trains and the rerouting of some trains. Passengers have been advised to check their train status before traveling to avoid any inconvenience.
Shalimar Station Yard Remodeling
The railway administration has informed that remodeling work at the Shalimar station yard will be underway from November 8th to November 24th. This work is being carried out to increase the station’s capacity and safety. According to South Eastern Railway, this work will impact the operation of several long-distance trains passing through the Chakradharpur Railway Division. The Railways plans to make train movement smoother and timely through the new yard model.

Which Trains Were Cancelled?
Due to the remodeling work, the Railways has decided to temporarily cancel the operation of a total of 10 express trains. These include major trains running from Shalimar to Mumbai, Gorakhpur, Bhuj, and Udaipur City. For example, the Shalimar-Mumbai Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Kurla Express will not run from November 13th to 21st, while the Bhuj-Shalimar Superfast Express will be cancelled on November 11th and 18th. Similarly, the Gorakhpur-Shalimar Weekly Express and Udaipur City-Shalimar Superfast Express will also not run during this period.
Some Trains Will Run on Shorter Routes
Keeping in mind the convenience of passengers, the Railways has decided to run some trains on shorter routes instead of canceling them completely. The terminations and origins of these trains will be changed. For example, the Shalimar-Badampahar Weekly Express will run from Santragachi on November 8, 15, and 22, while the Badampahar-Shalimar Express will run only to Santragachi on November 9, 16, and 23. Similarly, the routes of the Mumbai Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Shalimar Gyaneshwari Express and the Porbandar-Shalimar Superfast Express have also been temporarily shortened.

Railway Advice for Passengers
The railway administration has requested passengers to check their train status on the IRCTC website or through the railway enquiry number before planning their travel. This will avoid any inconvenience or confusion. The railway states that this work is being done for the long-term convenience of passengers, ensuring better operations and punctuality in the future.
What Changes Will Happen After the Remodeling
The capacity of Shalimar station will be increased after the remodeling. New yard lines, improved signaling systems, platform extensions, and upgraded passenger amenities will make station operations more efficient. The railway aims to further strengthen Shalimar’s role as a major terminal station following this project.
