Shagun Scheme: Every daughter hopes for a respectful and joyful marriage, but often, financial issues, family situations, or life’s challenges get in the way of that dream. For daughters from low-income families, widows, orphans, and those in tough situations, marriage can be a real struggle. Understanding this, the Haryana government has stepped up in a big way.

The Chief Minister’s Marriage Shagun Scheme, initiated by the Haryana government, is designed to make sure that no daughter’s marriage is held back just because of money problems. Through this scheme, the government offers financial help to families in need, allowing them to marry off their daughters with dignity. Recently, the shagun amount has been raised, meaning that poor families will now receive more financial support during marriage celebrations, which will directly benefit thousands of households.

The shagun amount has been increased, and now you can get Rs 51,000. The Haryana government has upped the financial aid for low-income families under the Chief Minister’s Marriage Gift Scheme from Rs 41,000 to Rs 51,000. This money will go straight into the beneficiary’s bank account as dowry. This move is set to ease the financial strain on families earning up to Rs 180,000 a year. The government is confident that this support will help lighten the load for families when it comes to their daughters’ weddings.

This government is providing Rs 51,000 for the remarriage of widowed sisters and daughters. The scheme pays special attention to the more vulnerable groups in society. It offers Rs 51,000 for the remarriage of widowed, divorced, destitute, or orphaned women, as long as they haven’t used this scheme for their previous marriage. Plus, widowed women can also receive Rs 51,000 to help with their daughters’ marriages.

Different assistance amounts for different categories

The government has established varying amounts for different categories within the scheme. For Scheduled Castes (SC) and Vimukta Jati (denotified castes), the amount is set at Rs. 71,000. General and backward classes are eligible for Rs. 41,000, while widows, destitute individuals, and orphaned daughters can receive Rs. 51,000. The Chief Minister’s Marriage Gift Scheme also includes special provisions for those with disabilities. If both partners are disabled, they will get Rs. 51,000, but if only one partner is disabled, the amount is Rs. 41,000. Additionally, female athletes can benefit from this scheme. If a female athlete has taken part in an Olympic, non-Olympic, or recognized tournament, she is entitled to assistance of Rs. 41,000.
