RBI- If you are also worried about not getting small notes while withdrawing cash from ATM, then now you are going to get relief. Often when we go to withdraw cash from ATM, we hardly ever get 100 or 200 rupee notes. But now this problem of yours is going to end.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Monday ordered banks and white label ATM operators to increase the availability of Rs 100 and Rs 200 notes in their ATMs. This means that in the coming days, you will easily get smaller notes instead of the big Rs 500 notes.
Strict instructions to banks and ATM operators
RBI has said in its circular that banks and white label ATM (WLA) operators will have to take necessary steps to provide adequate facilities of 100 and 200 rupee notes to the general public. Under this, by 30 September 2025, 100 or 200 rupee notes should be dispensed from at least one cassette in 75% of the ATMs in the country. After this, this facility will have to be made available in 90% of the ATMs by 31 March 2026.
RBI said, “In order to increase public access to frequently used denomination banknotes, it has been decided that all banks and White Label ATM Operators (WLAO) will ensure that their ATMs dispense Rs 100 and Rs 200 notes on a regular basis.”
What is a White Label ATM?
White Label ATMs (WLA) are those ATMs that are installed by private or non-banking companies instead of banks. With these too, you can withdraw money through debit card or credit card, check balance and avail all other facilities like you get from a bank ATM.
Along with this, another change is going to be implemented from 1 May 2025. If you withdraw money from the ATM after the free transaction limit is over, then now a charge of Rs 23 will be levied on every additional transaction. Till now this charge was Rs 21. That is, for those who use ATM several times a month, the expense is going to increase a bit.
