Ration Card Update: If you are a ration cardholder, this news is essential for you. The government has taken necessary steps to curb irregularities in the distribution of rations. A crucial step has been taken regarding the subsidised rations provided under the National Food Security Act. The government has decided to launch a special verification campaign. The main objective of this campaign is to identify fake ration cards and make e-KYC mandatory.
This campaign will run from December 17th to December 30th, 2025. The government has clearly instructed that the work will not be limited to paperwork but will also be carried out at the ground level. Special camps will be set up where physical verification of all ration card-related matters will be conducted. Ration cards found to have discrepancies will be removed from the list.

Government Emphasises e-KYC
The main objective of this campaign is to link ration cards with Aadhaar. The department has clarified that beneficiaries whose e-KYC is not completed may face difficulties in receiving rations in the future. Therefore, district and block administrations have been instructed to inform people in villages and urban areas on time so that eligible people continue to receive ration benefits.
Eligible Families Will Benefit
According to the government, this verification process will automatically identify fake and ineligible beneficiaries. This will reduce the burden on the government, and families who actually need rations will receive grains on time.

Where to Get Ration Card e-KYC Done
Beneficiaries can get their e-KYC done by visiting their nearest ration dealer and showing their ration card and Aadhaar cards of all family members. The e-KYC can be completed through fingerprint or iris scan using a POS machine. Operators at block or sub-divisional offices can also complete this process. This facility will also be available at special government camps at the panchayat or municipal level.
Precautions and Important Suggestions
During e-KYC, the name and date of birth recorded in Aadhaar must be correct. If fingerprint scanning doesn’t work, an eye scan option is available. In case of any problems, you can seek assistance from the ration dealer, the supply office, or the helpline number issued at the district level.
