Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that by adopting the ‘PM Surya Ghar Yojana’,people can save an average of ₹ 4, 200 of electricity every month. To make this initiative more effective, the Delhi government has launched the ‘PM Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme State Top-up’ scheme.

Under this scheme, the government was already providing a subsidy of ₹78, 000. Now with the Delhi government’s additional subsidy of ₹30, 000, the total subsidy amount has increased to ₹1.08 lakh, which is the largest subsidy ever in any such scheme. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that a subsidy of ₹ 30, 000 for 3 kW at the rate of ₹ 10, 000 per kW has been approved in the cabinet meeting. Apart from this, the Delhi government will also provide an easy loan facility in collaboration with institutions, so that the remaining cost of up to ₹ 90, 000 can be repaid without any advance payment.

This means that people will not have any problem installing solar panels even without paying a lump sum amount. The government has kept a budget of ₹ 50 crore for this scheme, which shows how serious the government is about this initiative. With the tie-up with banks, people will be able to easily get loans on the fees charged for installing 100 panels.
