PAN-Aadhaar Link Status: PAN has become one of the most essential documents these days. The government has made it mandatory to link PAN and Aadhaar to make the tax system transparent. If you haven’t already linked your PAN with Aadhaar, do so before December 31st.

If you want to know whether your PAN is linked to Aadhaar, it’s very easy to find out. First, you need to visit the Income Tax Department’s official website. If you already have an account, log in by entering your user ID, password, and captcha code.

If you don’t have an account, you can create one by clicking the “Register Yourself” option. After logging in, go to “Profile Settings” in the menu above and select the “Link Aadhaar” option. A page will open where you’ll need to enter your PAN and Aadhaar number correctly.

After entering the information, press the “Submit” button. The system will verify the information you provided and let you know if your PAN and Aadhaar are linked. If they are, a confirmation message will appear, and if not, you will be prompted with further instructions.

You can check your PAN-Aadhaar link status via SMS without visiting the website. To do this, compose a new message from your mobile phone: type “UIDPAN,” followed by a space, then your 12-digit Aadhaar number, then another space, then your 10-digit PAN number. Send this message to 567678 or 56161. For example, type – UIDPAN 123456789012 ABCDE1234F. After sending the message, you will receive a reply informing you whether your PAN and Aadhaar are linked.

If you haven’t yet linked your PAN with Aadhaar, it’s important to do so as soon as possible. The government has set a deadline of June 30, 2023. Failure to link on time could result in a penalty of ₹500 for the first three months and up to Rs 1,000 thereafter. Therefore, it’s crucial to link on time to avoid any inconvenience in the future.

If you want to link your PAN with Aadhaar online, visit the Income Tax Department website and log in. Then, under “Profile Settings,” select “Link Aadhaar.” Enter your PAN and Aadhaar number and press “Submit.” The system will verify your information and you will receive a message confirming successful linking. You can also link your PAN and Aadhaar via SMS. Text “UIDPAN <Aadhaar number> <PAN number>” from your mobile and send it to 567678 or 56161. For example, UIDPAN 123456789012 ABCDE1234F.

To comply with government regulations, it’s important to periodically check your PAN-Aadhaar linking status. Doing so can ensure your documents are correctly linked and prevent future financial transactions. Linking your PAN and Aadhaar is not only a legal requirement but also a vital step for your financial security.
