PAN Aadhaar Link: The government has been announced a new deadline . You will now need to link your PAN card and AADHAAR by December 31. Otherwise, you may encounter problems later.

The deadline to link PAN card and AADHAAR has already been extended by the government multiple times. This time, it’s been released until December 31, being the last day of the year.

If you do not link your PAN card and AADHAAR by the deadline, it will become inactive in January 2026, in which case you may have a few financial troubles along the way. So, in case you have not linked your PAN and AADHAAR yet, please do it now.

What Problems Can Arise If PAN and Aadhaar Are Not Linked

If you do not link your Aadhaar and PAN within the given time, you will lose access to many services.

  1. You cannot file or verify your income tax return.
  2. Any pending income tax refund will be stopped.
  3. You cannot see details related to TDS or TCS.
  4. Access to several banking services will be blocked.
  5. You may face problems with your current investments.
  6. You cannot make new investments.
  7. SIP installments cannot be deposited.
  8. Share trading will also be blocked.
  9. You can withdraw your existing money only after your PAN becomes active again, which may take over a month.

How to Link PAN and Aadhaar

  • Go to the Income Tax portal to link your PAN and Aadhaar cards.
  • Click on the ‘Link Aadhaar’ option.
  • Enter your Aadhaar number and mobile number.
  • Complete the OTP verification process.
  • If your PAN is inactive, pay a fine of ₹1,000.
  • To check the status, go to ‘Quick Links → Link Aadhaar Status’ on the same website.
