Ever thought that UPI payments can be done with just a missed call? It may sound surprising, but now it is possible. You can now make UPI payments through a simple missed call, even without the internet. You may wonder how this works. Let’s find out.

These days, most people do not carry cash. Money stays in the phone, and with a UPI app, payments are easy. Whether it is a big shop or a small one, scanners are everywhere. You can pay in a few seconds by scanning. But sometimes, network or internet problems create trouble, especially when you do not have cash with you.

To solve this issue, Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has taken a big step. Now, even without a smartphone or internet, you can make UPI payments through a missed call and voice command. This service is called UPI 123Pay.

What is the UPI 123Pay system?

UPI 123Pay is an initiative of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) that allows people to use UPI on feature phones. With this system, feature phone users can make digital payments without the internet. You only need two things: a mobile number linked to your bank account and a feature phone that can make calls. You can send money, receive money, or check your balance simply by making a call.

How does UPI 123Pay work?

  1. Call 08045163666 from your phone.
  2. Choose your language.
  3. Link your bank account (only for first-time users).
