The number of farmers in our country is very large. About 90% of the population earns their living through farming and farm-related work. The government runs many schemes for these farmers, which benefit crores of people across India. Many farmers are getting help through the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, under which the government gives ₹6,000 every year.
But even today, there are many farmers who are not getting any benefit from this scheme. These farmers are still facing financial problems. If you are also one of them and not able to get the benefit of the PM Kisan Yojana, then don’t worry.
There are some other government schemes that can help you. These schemes are made to support farmers like you. If you are not getting money from the Kisan Samman Nidhi, then you can apply for these five useful schemes. Let us explain them in detail.
1. Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (Crop Insurance Scheme)
This crop insurance scheme is very helpful for farmers. If you want to protect your farm and hard work, then this scheme is perfect for you. In this scheme, you have to pay only 2% to 5% of the insurance amount, and the rest is paid by the government.
If you are from states like North-East, Jammu & Kashmir, or Himachal Pradesh, then you don’t have to pay anything. The government pays the full amount for you. If your crop gets damaged due to natural reasons, the insurance company transfers the claim money directly to your bank account.
You can register for this scheme at your nearest bank, CSC (Common Service Centre) or by using the Crop Insurance mobile app.
2. PM Kisan Maandhan Yojana (Pension Scheme for Farmers)
If you are a small or marginal farmer between 18 to 40 years, then this scheme is very useful for your future. It is a retirement scheme from the government. You only need to pay a small amount every month, between ₹55 to ₹200.
After turning 60 years old, you will receive a monthly pension of ₹3,000, which will come directly to your bank account.
You can apply for this scheme at the nearest CSC center or directly through the Kisan Maandhan Yojana website.
3. Kisan Credit Card (KCC)
If you need money for farming, the Kisan Credit Card is a good option. With this card, farmers get a loan of ₹3 to ₹5 lakh easily. This loan comes under a government subsidy, and you only have to pay 4% interest per year.
You can use this money for seeds, fertilizers, diesel, pesticides, or irrigation. You can apply for the KCC at your bank or nearby CSC center.
4. PM Kusum Yojana (Solar Pump Scheme)
This scheme helps farmers to save energy and also earn money. Under the PM Kusum Yojana, farmers get up to 60% government subsidy to install solar pumps or solar systems. Another 30% can be taken as a bank loan, and farmers only need to pay 10% from their pocket.
With solar power, farmers can do free irrigation and can also sell extra electricity to the grid and earn money. You can apply through the online portal or visit the agriculture office in your district.
5. Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (Smart Irrigation Scheme)
If you want to do smart farming with less water, this scheme is very helpful. Under this plan, the government gives 45% to 55% help on buying drip or sprinkler irrigation systems. The money is sent directly to the farmer’s bank account. This saves water, and also improves the quality and quantity of the crop. You can apply for this scheme at the district agriculture office or through the official online portal.
